SEN reform in Wales

December 12th, 2016 by Joanne Clement

Readers of this blog practising in Wales will no doubt be rejoicing today, after the long-awaited Additional Learning Needs and Eduction Tribunal (Wales) Bill was finally introduced into the Senedd.
Details of the Bill and its expected progress are found here. I hope to provide a summary of the key changes to be introduced by the Bill on this blog in due course.

We will be keeping a close eye on the Bill as it progresses through the various stages before it receives Royal Assent. However, those expecting rapid progress will be disappointed. The Bill has been referred to the Children, Young People and Education Committee to consider and report on the general principles. The Committee is due to report to the Assembly by 12 May 2017. Stage 2 proceedings should be completed by 14 July 2017.
