The most prominent topic in education law, and indeed in education policy, is currently the Academies Bill, which appears to be set for enactment before Parliament’s summer recess. It is a reminder, if one were needed, of how education law is often a matter debate and concern for the country as a whole.
The legal issues to which Academies, and the process by which they will come into being, give rise are of great interest and will be the subject of discussion at an 11KBW seminar on Wednesday 21st July 2010.
Over the horizon, but possibly not very far away, are the “free schools”, the Government’s other headline education policy, which look like being an entirely new legal creature. It will be fascinating to see how the legislative structures for the free schools are fashioned.
